Don’t boycott BP. Consume less oil.

It’s not just cars. It’s plastic bottles. It’s CDs and DVDs and records. It’s paint. It’s film. It’s diapers. And thousands of other products.

If you want to make a difference, walk or ride a bike. Stop buying bottled water. Never, ever let anyone put your purchased products in a plastic bag. If you want to punish the oil industry, use less of their product. Giving your money to Exxon instead of BP doesn’t change anything.

Shop local. Bring your own bag. Carry your own water bottle. Re-use. Recycle. Walk. Thrift. Vote with your dollars, every day, every time.

Though I’d add we should all be making those simple changes already and that they alone won’t put much of a dent in oil companies, I agree and think people need to realize where their money goes. Every time you buy something you send a message to that company about that product: We want more.
